Art therapy makes sense. It taps into the emotional, non-verbal centers of the brain and provides an outlet for feelings and thoughts that may not have ever been articulated. I have over 30 years experience working with a wide range of issues affecting pre-school children, children, adolescents, families, and adults.
The office looks much more like an art and play haven than a place to talk about problems. As a registered and board certified art therapist, a licensed clinical professional counselor and a licensed clinical social worker, I use art, play and traditional talk therapy to help clients find their voice. I support parents’ natural parenting style, and provide additional tools to help parents experiment with new ways of dealing with old behaviors.
Art therapy is not just for kids! Adult and adolescent clients find that the “living room” area of the office is a relaxing place to contemplate life’s issues and challenges, which often leads to traversing over to the “art” side of the office for further exploration.
Areas of specialization:
• Trauma
• Attachment Issues
• Adoption Issues
• Abuse, Physical/Sexual/Emotional
• Anxiety
• Behavior problems
• Depression
• Grief and Loss
